Some words from Steve...
|
 |
Hi,
I hope you had
a safe and great spring break. Even though
my kids are out of school, Beverly teaches
school so I still get in the spring break
mode. Of course, I realize that I spend my
life in a spring break frame of mind. By
that I mean, I always have a trip coming up
to look forward to and I always enjoy
skipping out of work whenever I can. I have
a great job. We had some great family time
last week. We hit the beach one day, and
worked in the back yard digging out roots for
a new flowerbed one day. I also cleaned up
my fence that blew over IN SEPTEMBER from
Hurricane Ike. (OK, OK, I might could have
cleaned it up a little sooner but I have been
busy.)
I also did a
little reading last week. I caught up on
some magazines that had stacked up. I found
a pretty interesting article about product
branding and advertising campaigns that have
been very successful over the years. If I
read off the list of slogans to you I am sure
that you would recognize almost all of them.
Have you ever heard of Dan Wieden? He came
up with perhaps the most famous slogan back
in 1988. He and his partner David Kennedy
have a advertising firm up in Oregon. Surely
you have figured out what Dan Weiden came up
with. Just do it.
Those three simple words with a more simple
check mark or swoosh helped Nike become the
company for running shoes. Just do it.
Over the years,
others have taken those three words and used
them to promote other things too. Perhaps
you have seen the takeoff on faith using Just
Do It. Here it is.
Just walk it.
Just talk it.
Just preach it.
Just teach it.
Just tell it.
Just live it.
Just give it.
Just wear it.
Just share it.
Just shout it.
Just sing it.
Just proclaim it.
Just prove it.
JUST DO IT.
Live For Jesus
Since this is
supposed to be a parent update I decided to
make up a few things that as parents we ought
to be doing every day with our children.
Here are a few:
Just listen.
Just love.
Just affirm.
Just hug.
Just Pray.
Just care.
Just know.
Just laugh.
Just serve.
Just teach.
Just talk.
JUST DO IT!
See
you Sunday,
Steve

The Men of Action Golf Tournament is on
Saturday, May 2nd at Bear Creek Golf World.
This annual event directly benefits our youth
program as the funds generated are used for
the Men of Action Scholarship Fund for our
seniors. We are forming a youth staff team
in which I am sure that I will be the "D"
player. If you are a player, form a team and
sign up now. Play with your youth and spend
some quality time together. You will have fun
and it is a great cause.

We hope you have enjoyed this parent update email.
Our goal is to keep you in the loop of things
happening up here at the church so you can
encourage your little darling to be here. We also
think that this is the best way to get important info
in your hands. Please let us know any comments you
have about this and what kind of things you would
like to see in the future. ALWAYS send us stuff that
you read and find out there about youth and
parenting. You are our greatest resource. You can
email us back at mdumcyouth@gmail.com. Have a
great week!
Sincerely,
