Scripture Reading
May the Lord
direct your hearts into God's love and
Christ's perseverance.
- 2 Thessalonians 3:5
Thought of the Day
As people of
faith we have to love and be thankful for
Christ's perseverance. He shows it in His
love and in His forgiveness and in His grace
and in His faithfulness. As far as
perseverance goes, Jesus is up there. Now of
course none of us come anywhere close to
Jesus in our ability to persevere, but I
recently read about a lady who has to be in
the perseverance class picture.
Cha Sa-soon is
a sixty-eight year old woman from South
Korea. In 2005, she decided to get a
driver's license for the very first time.
She had some problems with the written test
the first time she tried. Since then, Cha
Sa-soon has failed the test seven hundred
and seventy-five times. If my math is
correct she has failed the test every couple
of days or so for four years. Even though
part of me thinks that she probably ought to
be able to pass the test by now, and at some
point she might consider studying a bit, I do
admire her perseverance. She has great hopes
of someday passing the test and buying a
truck to start a business. I am pretty sure
that I would not want to carry the insurance
on that truck if she ever passes the test.
I do wish Cha
Sa-soon luck on her endeavors. I am also
most thankful that we have a God in Jesus
Christ who perseveres in His great love for
each of us. His faithfulness is amazing. He
directs our hearts into His love. This is
the great news today and forever.
Prayer
Lord, Thank you for Your perseverance in
pursuing me. Amen.
